I’ve been thinking a lot about public installations - not quite like graffiti but using the city as a gallery. Whether that be a parking lot, an alley, a vacant store front. But then this gets me to thinking what it is to show work in a parking lot - the dialogue of the parked car, stagnancy/mobility - the shattered glass as installation from last nights burgle - the used condom and the broken liquor bottle.
And these things make me feel that the work has already been made - that the world itself (as it is) is the art - which makes me feel that the work I make; painting, sculpture, or digital is really just rearranging the shattered glass and the parked car into something where I don’t immediately see the broken condom.
